I got off the fanbase shortly after Meteora, so I have to admit I haven't been following them for a while. So when I found out that they have just dropped a new song, I just had to listen to it.
I look at the title, Heavy, but nothing prepared me for what I'm about to hear.
WTF. That was not Heavy. At. All. Linkin Park.
That was my reaction when I first heard the song. Being a true-blue Hybrid Theory fangirl, I was sorely disappointed. I felt like I was trolled by the band and the song's title. It wasn't Heavy. It was anything but.
But then I played the song for a second time, and now the song's stuck in my head. I looped the song a couple more times.
That's when I actually realized that I like the song.
I've heard the song a few times now, but I am still disappointed. But this time, at myself.
I'm disappointed at myself for hating the song just because it didn't sound like the old Linkin Park. I'm disappointed that I forcefully pushed them, in my mind, just like many others, to stay in one genre, and got mad when they didn't.
Now I'm looking forward to their other songs. Their newest album, One More Light, drops May 19th, and I just can't wait.
